Holiday in Carvoeiro

Carvoeiro is a quaint and picturesque fishing village in the Algarve, Portugal. 

Recently expanded to accommodate tourism, it is a delightful combination 

of new and old, with a rich and wonderful history. Ancient Roman ruins remain 

amidst the town`s modern amenities, which include holiday resorts, golf courses 

and luxurious villas.

Holidays in Carvoeiro are available for everyone to enjoy, with accommodation 

ranging from budget hotels to mid-high range resorts to exclusive high-end villas. 

Carvoeiro is an extremely popular destination for family holidays and is home to 

much self-catering accommodation. Hotels in Carvoeiro are conveniently located 

near to the town`s attractions, with almost everything within walking distance. 

Restaurants offer an excellent range of local and international cuisine, catering 

for adults and children alike.

Carvoeiro offers the tourist much to see and do. Visitors can explore the small 

traditional houses nestled amongst contemporary buildings and find numerous 

shops, restaurants and quality services that cater for every holidaymaker. 

Several small beaches are situated a short distance from the village centre.

 Some beaches to visit include Praia de Carvalho, Praia de Centianes, 

Praia de Marinha, Praia de Benagil and Praia da Albandeira. The local beaches 

are surrounded by rocky cliffs, many of which contain accessible caves. 

The nearby spectacular cliffs of Algar Seco are said to be one of the best locations 

in the Algarve, attracting many tourists to the naturally sculpted rock formations, 

caves, `water chimneys` and islets. 

The town of Carvoeiro`s bustling streets offer plenty of entertainment in 
themselves, with a unique and authentic Portuguese charm. The once single 
main street has now turned into three and the town has been subject to much 

restoration and growth over 

the years. Carvoeiro proudly continues its fishing traditions and fisherman can 

still be found every morning catching fish, that are later served fresh in the 

town`s restaurants. At night time the town square comes to life and becomes a 
vibrant location for entertaining shows and cultural displays. 

The area boasts enormous and renowned golf courses that create a 

picturesque and luscious landscape and attract golf enthusiasts from 

across the globe. Other popular activities in the town include bathing on the

 tranquil beaches, snorkeling, diving and hiring boats to take trips around the 

surrounding waters, where islets and mysterious caves can be spotted. 

Adventurers can also discover secluded and isolated beaches. 

Surrounding Carvoeiro there are also plenty of attractions available to tourists. 

To the west of Carvoeiro is the village of Ferragudo. Unlike Carvoeiro, this village 

remains untouched by tourism and gives a wonderful insight into an authentic 

fishing village and the traditional way of life. There are other provincial villages 

in the region and travelling inland, the Silves castle remains are open for 

public visiting. 

Travelling further afield to the rest of the Algarve, visitors will discover no end 

of exciting excursions and activities. There are action-packed water parks, 

exclusive yachting marinas, castles, museums, mountains, water sports and 

pleasure cruises. 

For those that want to travel outside of Carvoeiro, in the nearby larger town

selection of hire vehicles. Albufeira is about 13 miles away from Carvoeiro,
